Today the Bury Knights Junior Chess Club celebrate their 25th birthday!!! What an amazing achievement. I wonder how many of the top players in Suffolk have come through their ranks and how many other children have enjoyed many happy evenings and learnt so much about chess and much more from Bob Jones and his helpers. Thank you Bob for all you have done.
Former Bury Knights include IM Alan Merry, and Adam and Tom Eckersley-Waites, who are both 200+ players. They have regularly provided the significant numbers to the Suffolk Junior Teams. With England team players Jaden Jermy and Adam John at the club, this success looks set to continue. With regular attendances of 30 juniors and more of all standards, Bury Knights provide a great club for lots of Juniors - and they still want more members!!! This Friday, there will be a simultaneous chess match against Manningtree's FM Andy Lewis - pictured below last year. If you would like to join Bury Knights, please email Bob Jones at bobjoneschess@btinternet.com
